I was wondering that - do you polish after claying and then apply Nanolex over polish, or just clay and Nanolex? Mine has been Nanolex since new, but feeling rough now and was going to clay and re-Nano. Can I ask what polish you use prior to re-Nano Silvr? As mine's black, I'm paranoid about scratches, swirls etc.

    Hey Clip,

Polish is not a layering product, it is used to correct and prep the paintwork for Wax or Synthetic sealant. I use Mezerna products for Polishing, I recommend ordering them through carcareproducts I just buy the sample kit Car Care Products / Menzerna / Exterior / Polish / NEW Sampler Kit, lasted me 5 years . It is light correction and high gloss which makes the perfect base for whatever your preference is for LSP.

Personally I struggle with the idea of Clay and wax/seal without a polish as I know the clay has applied microscopic scratches. When I use lamps on the paint I can see them but only at the right angle. Anyway I do recommend the Nanolex kit, it is not as good as the professional application but as a seal process it is pretty good. I have had it on 3 -4 months now and it still beads.. I can't help myself and just topped it up with a coat of DoDo juice Red Mist. brings back the pop

Yes I love a black car but even as a detail nut it is a bridge too far. My recommendation for keeping swirls at bay is ensue your washing regime is disciplined as that is where swirls really come from. Use the 2 bucket method, ensure us use ph neutral products and always use microfibre. The other tip which I picked up at a detailing clinic was to always wash and dry the car in a single direction, never ever apply a circular motion.

Thanks Silvr, much appreciate your comments. I am pretty fussy and do use the 2 bucket wash, and don't let the car get too dirty. I use the Nanolex wash as it really helps with the beading, so very little to dry off after final rinse (and use microfibre for drying, not chamois).

That was going to be my next question, do you use anything over the Nano?

I discovered Red Mist about 3 years ago and it is just an amazing product, it is a synthetic detailer that actually provides a protective coating. The secret is less is more. Nanolex have a detailer product but it costs twice as much... given I am smitten with Red Mist I havn't bothered trying it.. but do yourself a favour try it.. amazing stuff

Agreed - surpisingly looks really good!

As others have said they'll likely be a PITA to keep clean though.
