Going well and sound pretty good, as well as making the R breathe better...
Is it legal to have the intake like that?
I thought the filter had to be closed off from the engine bay.

That's a bit of a worry that it is not legal now though... did you ask for 35%? I was planning on either their Octane or Midnight Express. The darker tints really do look good on the Candy Whites.

The intake is closed off from the engine bay, as you can see in this picture:
(It has a "shield" across the picture betwen the engine and intake, and another verticle in the picture along the front of the engine bay)

Finally, when you close the bonnet, the "enclosure" is created. The bonnet itself is valid as part of the enclosure. The latest FPV's have a setup like this too.

    Ahhh okay.
It used to be that the entire thing had to be enclosed in a heatproof box in QLD.
Not sure if that is still the case.

I know a lot of people with imports got pulled up becasue it wasn't properly enclosed.

Glad that we are able to have something less boxy now.

Would it get much fresh air there with all the restrictions around it?

The Octane apparently has a little bit of reflection in it and I wasn't sure if it would suit the white. The Octane is supposed to be the darker of the two. Guess the GTI glass is darkish to begin with. I don't have the privacy glass either.

I didn't ask for a percentage just that it be legal and they did warn me that it may come up a smidge to dark and gave me the option to wait till they got another batch in. Pretty happy with the result either way.

Hey team_v, yeah the air filter gets plenty of air mainly from the original feeder duct from the original set-up (@ the grille) as well as flow from around the headlamp.

Picked up my GTI from SCC at Wollongong - they really looked after me , very happy with the car and the dealer. This is the second car we've bought from them now.

I then had a great drive back via the Sea cliff bridge & Royal National park to Sydney. Managed to almost go thru' the entire park without running into another car.
Had fun playing with the ACC - definitely worth getting.

So now in joins my wifes EOS in the garage to make a happy family

    And here's it's mate.

Very nice. A flood of new Candy Whites lately. Picking up mine tomorrow. Almost the exact same spec as yours.

Edit: the EXACT same spec as mine... except I was too cheap for Euro plates.

    Good choice of specs
I already had the number plate from my last GTI so I had it transfered.
Just went for a drive to test the headlights and check it wasn't too lonely in the garage without me.
