Hi Davel
Same problem as me. Ordered Mid November "Iron Clad" delivery mid March. Now been advised delivery to occur in May. Sounds stupid but I was so looking forward to the GTI I even scheduled an operation beforehand followed by 4 weeks holidays which I am now obligated to take. The delivery date was also important as I have a 4 month o/s holiday in Jul-Oct.
I have read my T&Cs and I can cancel within 30 days of the estimated delivery date. As much as I love the car I feel I have no other option.
Thanks
^My local dealer indicates that whatever stock they order will generally comprise of 75% being 5 door, 75% being DSG and 75% with Detriots. Reason being is that many buyers opt for this combination. Similar thing with Leather, Sat Nav and Sunroof as optional extras; ther're popular options.
Reason that Detriots ain't common in showrooms is that they are sold by the time they reach the dealership. The demo models or floor stock tend to be versions with 17" denver; nobody wants standard looking old style 17" wheels these days.
Cheers.
WJ

lol... so WJ is being conservative with this "75% have Detroits" then maybe![]()
A glimmer of hope...........
Build date in March
Possible delivery date early June.
Might be a touch "line ball" for my liking.
Guess I'll just have to keep fingers (and toes) crossed and monitor closely.
This makes me feel better now that i didnt get a whopping discount on the car but i know that its sitting in melbourne and at the top of the PD list at the dealership. Just as soon as patricks get it over to them...
Best case should have it this week, worst case 10 days.
currrently... MY10 GTI | DSG | Candy White | Sunroof | 18's | BT | MDI
previously... MY08 GT TDI | DSG | Reflex Silver | Sunroof
Ordered my GTI as below late October, quoted end-Jan delivery, actual delivery was last Tuesday. Still an acceptable window in my opinion.
Some dealers do manage to keep their promises on custom built vehicles, without a 6 month waiting period. May have been my luck in getting in early.
I'm with you Steve_tdi, driving this car around is worth a few hundred bucks of enjoyment for every day I've driven it so far.
