Doubt we will get the Polo GTI this year.
The updated shape hasn't even been released here yet and the GTI wil take another 6months or more to come out after the new shape.
Anyone out there considering the new Polo GTI being released here later this year over buying the Golf GTI. The thing is supposed to do 0-100 in 6.9 secs and do it sipping 6.5L/100Ks.

There seems to be a few limitations with the new Polo, but until the details are released wont know for sure...
DSG only
3 door only
These are unconfirmed, Polo should be a few months away, GTI may scrape in this year.
Soon it may be the only 3dr sports VW on the market ...... with the Golf GTI and R rumoured to be 5drs only going forward.......
Too many issues with both the 1.4TSI and the DSG for me to be interested at all .... I'd have preferred a 6sp manual and the 1.8TSI engine from the A3 to be honest as a niche product in the VW range ....
Pick of the range for me will actually be the 1.6TDI (77kw/250NM) with 6spd manual. Oettinger chip and you've got 110kw and 320NM .... make for a nice nippy small hatch ....

Yeah, I'm happy with my little 1.8T in the Polo. Its not frugal, but there are plenty of big power options if you can work out how to get the power down.
To confirm, current information is that the new Polo GTI will be available this year. The other information is that it will be 5 door only. And yes, it's DSG only world wide - there is no manual option in any country.
Thanks coreying
Hope they bring it in significantly under the pricing of the Clio RS 200 Trophee
VW Australia have thus far done an awesome job of bringing in each 'new' model at the same or lower price than the previous one. If we assume the same price of $26,990, but add $1500 for 5 door and $2500 for DSG, then it'll be $30,990.
To have it look like the press photos you could assume it'll also cost $2k for the large sunroof and $2k for the Xenon. But either way, it's going to be far less than the $38,990 of the Clio RS 200 Cup Trophee.
