Oettinger's Map for the current 1.4 TSI engine runs KWs up to 205PS from 150PS and torque up to 300nm from 250nm .
7 speed DSG handles upto around 320nm I believe.
Map should knock off about 0.6 secs from the POLO GTI's 60-100 time
of 6.9 secs.
She'll be a great little beast even without the Map.![]()
MkVI Golf GTI | Candy White | DSG | Leather | Bi-xenon | Sunroof | Dynaudio | Park Assist | MDI | Tint | FINALLY RECEIVED!!
If anything, it be MkVI GTIs owners who should be worried. The MkV has still has more charisma over the MkVI, if the new Polo GTI is as entertaining to drive as it's predecessor, it will easily blow away the MkVI in these stakes.
Not everyone is interested in modding their cars to a point where the mods cost a large percentage of cost of the vehicle new.
Most folks who buy these cars just want a nippy car that is easy to drive day to day. Yet allow them to fang it once it a while.
205PS is still only 150KW. We don't know yet whether the Polo GTI has any actual engine differences or whether it's simply an ECU update too! So I'm not sure a 13% increase in power and 20% increase in torque would actually take that much off the acceleration times.
The other factor is tyre width. Those of us already driving around with Polo GTI's with APR Stage I ECU's (152kw & 328NM torque) already know how hard it is to get a good launch without wheel spin
Having had two VW's with APR ECU's (and full quad exhaust on the MKV Golf GTI), I can assure you that their claims are legit. The transformation is remarkable, and both cars have been frugal and reliable. (though I didn't have the MKV Golf GTI for that long unfortunately... but there are thousands of other customers who run their ECU updates without issue).
I'd have to agree with pologti18t response. Although both my comment and your comment are just personal opinions. My opinion as a MKV owner is that the MK6 is a better car in almost all respects. Though you have a Pirelli which obviously has better performance than the standard GTI anyway.
But I agree in relation to the mods. An ECU is all I'd do in most cases, and that's significantly less than $2000. Even so, I still feel the MK6 is a superior car to the MKV. As long as this new Polo GTI drove as well as the previous one, I'd purchase it new over a 2nd hand MKV Golf any day!
Yes, but the MKV had rattles all over the place. The only reason you can hear a rattle in the engine bay of the MK6 is because the interior is so superior in the MK6 that you can hear it (as long as your windows are open and the music is off). For all we know, the MKV also has the same rattle, but you can't hear it over all the cabin rattles
But in any case, one rattle doesn't make the MKV better![]()
Neither does newer mean better...better NVH I will agree but what about the rattles people have been complaining about? Not just one.
My Wolfberg built Pirelli is rattle free.
So is my SA built GT. It did have a rattle in one of the airvents but that was fixed easily by the dealer. We can hear a gurgle or two from time to time but not a rattle when the radio is off and the windows wound up.
Twice lucky?
