Mystery Chiming Sound from inside my GTI

I've recently heard a single chime sound from inside the cabin whilst driving my 2011 GTI. IT may only happen twice in one day, then not again for weeks. There's nothing on the instrument panel to indicate that anything is wrong, and i have checked that ALL fluids are as they should be. I kind of suspect the radio or satnav (RNS510) settings, but cant be certain !!............Anyone had anything similar ?

What is the temp when you hear the chime. Some can chime when the temp goes under 3-4 degrees and a little snowflake comes up next to the temp.

The snowflake doesn't alarm if you start when the car is below 4degrees. I haven't had it in months as it is always below 4 when I go to work in the morning.

Do you have the Traffic Programme TP enabled? The radio still is able to pick up this TP information (just can't display it here in Australia)...

The chime sound occurs when the TP signal is lost (you get a little "no TP" annunciation in the screen too)...

My R always chimes fairly promptly if it is started at or below 4 degrees here in Canberra. That's most mornings and always at night when I'm coming home from the Gym at the moment.

The idea of the chime from memory is to tell you the road may be icy.

I had the same issue, took me ages to work out it was the loss of TP (if you are in radio mode you will just notice it flash). I originally thought it was a feature to alert the driver when you are on a long stint with the cruise control on, because this was the only times I was getting this...but turns out of course that on long drives, the radio reception for whichever channel it is getting the (unfortunately encrypted) TP from had lost reception.
(P.s I worked it out just last week driving to Canberra lol).
