You can't get a spot on match between paint on plastic and metal, they dry at different rates, different temperature and so on. The bumpers are painted separately to the car but this is the case in most if not all manufacturers and the paint will be from the same batch and manufacturer so will be spot on. Metallic paints are worse as the different drying times mean the pigments rise to the surface and the flakes settle more.

The dealer can't fix the tail gate as its the actual panel thats at fault & its not major enough to warrant panel work that would require the whole tail gate being repainted
i was told by a manager that works at a major Mazda dealership who is the husband of a my friend.... he also said that all manufactures do it.....
While i agree that it may be near impossible to colour match 100% the pastic parts it sure is a lot more obvious on todays new cars. It was very hard to pick on my new cars of pasted years which were a 1989 Honda and 1999 Subaru. On the golf the bumper looks darker at all times regardless of what temperature the metal body is at......it will be more or less obvious depending on the light conditions.
