dealer id say. when i test drove my 90tsi it was still in german
I've just purchased a new Golf 77TSI, and notice when I turn the car on or off, or if I try and start the car without the clutch depressed the MFD panel displays various text messages - however they are in German.
The owners manual indicates that this area of the MFD may be used to display more important information in the event of faults. While the basic information messages are a non-issue, I'm worried that I may miss an important fault notification because I can't understand it.
The manual, and an internet search, indicates there's a "Settings" menu where I can change the language, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to get into it - and suspect it may not be available on my model (Golf 77TSI)
Am I correct in assuming I don't have access to those functions on this model - and if so, is there any other way to change the language or will I need to take it back into the dealer?

Sounds strange - like they've not prepped the car for the Australian market correctly at the factory, or during dealer pre-delivery.
Give your dealer a call and mention it; they might need your car for an hour or two to make the necessary changes via the dealer system.

you should be able to change the language in the MDF but while the car is stationary only .
its a simple setting using vas. VCDS may also be able to do it. Adaption channel in instrument cluster.
Dunno about other vehicles but my mk6 GTI MFD language can be changed via the "setup" menu on the MFD, when vehicle is stationary.
depends on the level of car whether you can do it through MFD.
Maybe the car is asking you, "Sprechen Sie Deutsch?"
