He asked about GTI head unit. I already posted that the GTI comes standard with RCD510.

He also doesn't say anything about being interested in what sounds better - he is talking about sat nav...
    Sorry my mistake
I kind of missed the GTI part

    Sorry, so did I.

Thanks for the tip on avoiding toll roads, though — once I found what the icon meant, it was simple.

Guys essentially my point was this. In the MKV there were 2 units. 1 NAV and 1 which looked pretty basic. In the MKVI (from what i've since learned) there is also 2 units. 1 NAV and 1 which looks very similar but with a lower spec (resolution) and no NAV. The reason for my asking all of this is due to the potential savings of not fitting the Nav as I personally rarely use it and if I do, the iPhone does the trick for me. I do however think that resale might be affected by not having the NAV version fitted. Come 2-3 years down the track when it comes time to sell - people may expect this kind of option above others (such as adaptive susp etc).

I haven't had this suburb problem at all. I have entered my country as Australia and town as Perth. All I have to do for a new address is press Street and start typing the street name. If there are a lot of streets with the same name, there is a button up the top that gives the number of choices. Press it, and it lists the street name with the suburbs. In fact, you only need to type in the first couple of letters of the street, which pares down the list as you go. Works beautifully. Updated software in the new GTI, maybe?

Same here, I rarely use suburbs but instead use Brisbane etc to do my searching.

There are more head units available in the Mark V and the VI and two sat navs in the Mark V (actually two in the Mark VI if you could the RNS 310).

I wouldn't buy Sat Nav because the next buyer might want it. Either buy it because YOU want it or don't bother as you're throwing away money. The RNS 510 can be easily retrofitted later on.

x 2. Every car I've looked at with a retro fitted RNS 510 has incorrect coding.

Does not having the Sat Nav restrict you from any other features? MDI/Bluetooth for example?

And is there anywhere I can find details of the actual differences between the two units?

    1. Higher resolution on Nav Version
    2. Navigation Included
    3. More buttons..

    lol
