I like MK6 GTI's cloth seat. Personally, I think black leather seats make the cockpit too dark because the GTI's interior is black, including roof. I'm currently waiting for my car and decide to use Nanolex fabric sealant to protect the cloth seats.
No no... you're getting confused.
My comments were directly taken from the GTI Specifications from the VW Australia website. Note that I said Electric Lumbar Adjustment. That is completely separate to the Electrically Adjustable Drivers Seat, which is a $600 option on the 5dr model and only in conjunction with the Leather option (which, as I've stated will already have the Electrics for the Lumbar in place, hehe)

We got the cloth interior on our GTi, we really liked the look, especially within the dark cockpit. The fact that the car was immediately available and its saved us $3k also swayed our decision. Its our first non-leather interior after 10 years. certainly the leather interior is easier to keep clean and more durable if you got kids who insist eating and drinking in the car.
will certainly have to invest in some fabric protection, (the nanolex sound promising) and banned the now teenagers from eating in the car .
in the future a leather re-trim is on the cards if the fabric wears out.
cheers
Hi, was planning on doing it myself, don't believe in the fabric, paint protection etc.

the nanolex cost $49.95 plus $11.95 shipping.
time to go to Coles, I think
cheers
Hmm thread seems to gotten a little off track.
So I have the Mk6 GTI with the Jackie trim, and love it, really comfortable and have had no wear to date (to be expected as I've only had the car for a month now) and am actually glad I didnt go for the leather.
Something I noticed on the last GTG drive was the guys with leather seats ended up with massive sweat stains down their backs I can only assume this was due to the leather not breathing?? My wifes car has leather and whilst it is nice I don't think it really adds much to a car like the GTI, but again its more of a personal choice really.

lol Maverick. I was thinking that but didn't want to say anything.
I can't comment on the wear in the cloth seats, but in the vehicle I tested, I found the cloth colour (particularly the red detail) much less vibrant than I'd expected. I requested the cloth trim anyway, but ended up getting the leather at a discounted price from the dealer when none were available. I'm glad I did - I'm much happier with the leather look.
I had cloth in my MkV GTI and it did not wear well on the drivers side support - 4 years and a hole in the cloth that was quite noticeable, hence I am getting leather in my MkVI GTI.
