Mechatronics
Hi everyone,
After owning an MK6R currently sitting on 110000km I have finally come across a dreaded problem. On the way home from a 1 hour drive on Saturday I all of a sudden loss power and the gears just dropped to neutral with the wrench symbol coming on, luckily I was so close to home I was able to limp home safely driving at around 25km/h at 3000 RPM. Once I got home I got home i lifted the bonnet and I noticed underneath to be very very hot and the check engine light was on. After several hours I turned my car on again and the check engine light was gone, so I decided to drive 15 minutes to the gym where no issues arised everything seemed back to normal, however on the way back the gears dropped again and i loss power with the check engine light and wrench signal appearing. However today I turned my car on and once again the check engine light was no longer visible. Previously I never experienced any symptoms such as DSG slippage, jerky sounds, car vibrations or harsh shifts so I found this very sudden and unexpected.
So my question is where to from now, from all the posts I've read this is all pointing to a mechatronics replacement but its just weird this only happens when the car is hot and goes away after its cool. My plan is to save 4k to get it towed to a DSG specialist and hope for the best. In the mean time is there any other alternatives you guys suggest in the meantime, such as a mobile mechanic to come and diagnose or is it just a waiting game and most importantly has anyone experienced similar symptoms and what was the outcome?
Thanks

Not sure what happened to my previous reply i may have hit something and it deleted when trying to edit on mobile. I have a similar issue where it displays the dsg error on dash and only happens when cold.
New complete mechatronics unit is ~$2800 direct from vw. Correct oil and adaptation needs to be done after installing. Every transmission place makes it sound like rocket science and only they are equipped to do it.
I'm trying to find someone to supply and replace a faulty solenoid on the mechatronic unit.

the only part thats sealed is the ecu area and that can be opened with a dremel, see video;

ive the exact same issue,was this ever sorted...
I changed the mechatronic from another car. I have a spare mechatronic removed from my car with new solenoids fitted to it if you wanted to try it.
