As a guy who likes clean rims, the R rims look the business, but are a PITA to keep clean.

The rolling radius should be the same with the correct size tyres, from memory I think 235/35/19? As for offset the 17" Detroits are ET51.

Golf R 19s are ET 50 offset. Not sure of the offset of the 18" Detroits off hand, but it'd be close.

Just trawl through the photo threads here to see photos of GTIs running 19s on stock suspension, to see if you think it looks too high.

The GTI is dropped 22mm lower at the front and 15mm lower at the rear compared to a normal Golf, while the R is dropped 25mm all round.

I just called them and it is actually a +45 offset and 8" wide..

Should I stick with that offset or go with the +35 as I want it flush but not to scrub.. + towing a jet ski as well lol

Getting golf 19" golf r replicas for my gti.. just wondering what offset will work +45 or +35

I will be towing a jetski if it helps.

Also, do the 19"s look silly on a stock height GTI as they are slightly higher than the Golf R

+45 for golf, +35 for roc.

Thanks mate, what do you think 1 inch lower all around? Also what springs would be best for ride/handling?

does anyone have any pictures of the 19's on a stock height gti?
