ive been told 235 is the legal width for 19 rims.

We discussed the current crop of tyres a few pages back. The summary is (according to numerous magazine/internet car site roundups) is that, the BEST dry performance tyre (excluding semislicks) and the BEST wet performance tyre (including "winter" tyres), combined with a good overall "comfort" and "wear" is the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2.

The original F1 Asy was still competitive vs the Michelin PSP 3 depending on the "bias"/criteria of the reviewers. But the F1 Asy 2 has thus far taken every single review as it's just so far ahead of the crowd it's not funny.

I have no idea how much it costs in Australia, and unfortunately the original F1 Asy was so successful that Tirerack.com are still selling stock of the original and don't have any of the 2, it really is the tire to get.

That being said, if you can obtain the Michelin PSP 3 for cheaper than the F1 Asy 2, then do it. By all the reviews and praise it's garnered, it's a great tyre too. I haven't had the opportunity to drive a Golf with them on it, but I've driven a Golf with the PSP 2's and it was fantastic. But given that the Goodyear is typically the same or cheaper... go for them
    Hi Corey

I thinking of getting the Goodyear Asy2's because I don't think the Mich PS3 are going to be that much better for the extra $160 each .

The setup looks excellent and stance looks perfect (not ridiculously and impractically low).
Is that just the Eibach ProKit lowering springs?
Was looking at possibly going down the road of the Eibach Pro Street Coilovers however the spring setup there provides the height im looking for.

im running 19's remember. so the gap will differ with other sizes.
i didnt look at coilovers as i dont track the car, and i only wanted a lower stance for daily use, this provides oem feel but at a lower ride height
ive mentioned previously on other threads that its an eibach custom pro kit. derek at EA trialled the eibach pro kit but found it was too bouncy and the front was raked too low. he talked with rob van oz from eibach australia and they researched and tested a number of the vw springs available before settling on the configuration u see. he had them on his apr stg2 gti.
give derek a call, ive recommended someone else here as well who asked about them, and he has contacted derek about them

    Golf R - 18" S3 Speedlines - Fit?

    Hi all,

I've searched and there are plenty of threads on wheel offsets for different cars, but all specific to a particular wheel.
Happy to have this thread as a general "Golf R - wheel fitment" thread.

First up, I'm looking for some help.
I have some S3 wheels that I had on my old GTI.
I want to fit them to my R. I have a CW 3 door R with black 19" Talladegas.

GTI was on HPA SHS. Love how low it was (for looks, not the ride!)

    S3 specs are 7.5J x 18H2 ET56

    I have read that my 19" talla's are 8J x 19 ET50

Can anyone suggest whether I'll have any issues running these wheels?
    Caliper rubbing?

    Any help would be appreciated!

Golf R runs same brake setup as S3,so should be no problem with fitment.
    I'm running 18 x 8 rims with 45 offset on my S3.
