Thank you for that recommendation, I think 17's would be a good option as I dont want to lose the comfortable ride it already has. (I drove a few of my dad's toyotas and subarus growing up, and this is my first euro)..

If you look on FB marketplace, ebay or Gumtree you should be able to get some unmarked 17" or 18" with near new tyres for $400-$500. That's what I've paid for my last 3 sets of rims/tyres.

Remember that Audi & Skoda wheels fit too.

I will check! I dont really plan on modifying the springs/suspension. I just want the look, and to make it easier to re-sell or trade-in when Im ready for the GTI, financial-wise. LOL

I was told by my friend to get the RS6 rims or the Talladega rims.. they look very similar.. You think that would fit and would look nice without lowering?

Believe it or not - totally stock will be best for trade-in or re-sale. If you change it then fit what will give you pleasure during your ownership period.

I'd have to know the specs of the rims (width, diameter, offset, centrebore diameter, PCD, etc) before saying what will fit. Many of the later Audi rims have too much offset and the tyres are too big in diameter.

Buy what makes you happy - don't listen to your mates too much.

Hey guys, what would be the good tyres for MK6 GTI at a cheaper price. I’ve currently got Pirelli P Zero MO 225/40 R18 92Y and have been quite happy with the performance but wanted something a bit cheaper.

Tyroola quotes $860 for 4 tyres plus fitting and wheel alignment which seems ok but local tyre shops are telling me they are not genuine/parallel imports etc and I should avoid them. The local guys quote me $255 each including fitting and $69 for wheel alignment. I’m located in Melbourne. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Have you found the PZero’s to wear out prematurely on the outer edges? Its very common with the PZero’s.

Hankook Ventus S1 Evo 3 and Falken Azenis FK510 are good options. I had the Falkens on my previous car and have the Hankooks on my current car. Both tyres have rated very well overall on tyrereviews.com (he also does videos on Youtube testing tyres) and are better amongst the mid/premium tyres, bettered only by the top players Michelin Pilot Sport 4 & Continental.

Low noise, good grip and nice looking tyres.

Not quite in the same league as the two options listed above, but still a perfectly decent tyre option is the Bridgestone Potenza RE003. Jax have $100 cashback deal on these for the month of February so they come down to $195 each after the cashback.

That’s spot on! I haven’t paid much attention to it as I don’t drive hard and wife has been driving it most of the time. I only noticed it today when I was checking them because of the bulge on sidewall of the front tyre. They sure do seem to wear quite a lot on the outer edges compared to how much tread depth is left.

I was also looking at Michellin Pilot - I think the car originally came with those when I bought it in 2011. I will definitely look into those two options as well. Thanks for the information Lucas_R.

They seem to not have 92Y but only 92W, not that it’d make much difference? Quite surprised that Hankook ones have same pricing as Pirelli.
