Hi all.
I'm need to change four tyres on my Golf. They have lasted 60,000km and last time I went to the dealership for service they have advised me that it would be good idea to change tyres even though the thread is still good. Currently I have Continental ContiEcoContact™ 3, do I just stick with them since they have lasted this long or does anyone else have different opinion on the tyres to get. I'm not a race driver and don't care about burn outs etc. apparently my original breaks are still in great condition as been noted by the service department at my 60k service. They were surprised that I haven't changed my break pads at all since there is enough to last another 15,000km.
Thanks

Mate what suspension do you have?
I just bought these
VW GTC Wheels Matte Anthracite 19" GT CR Golf V VI MKV Mkvi 5 6 R32 R GTI TSI | eBay
19x8.5 +45
I run a khumo ku39 225/40/19
At stock height u scrubbed going over a bump on the right hand rear..
Do you have similar issues? What offset are your wheels?
Thanks mate
It's tread & brake
I'm at 130,000km with original brake pads. Not even at 50% yet.
What size tyre are you running?
If the tread is still good (eg: more than 2mm at the lowest point) then why would they recomend you change them? I got 75,000km out of my last set of tyres & got 110,000km out of a set of Michelins on my Legacy.

The problem with x 8.5 ET45 is you're going to be poking on a standard or GTI/R Mk6 Golf, so even on stock suspension you can get rub. You'll need to play with the camber to try and tuck the rears in a bit.
Ideally at x 8.5 wide you need to be at least ET50, although a lot of people will stick to x 8 wide to keep things more flexible on the wheel front.

Hi mate,
I have the VWR springs fitted. They dropped the car about 20-25mm all round. I get rub mainly in the fronts when going over bad dips in the road at speed. I haven't had time to do the fender screw mod yet which I hope will help, but might also have to play with camber slightly at some point.
Why do you have a 40 profile tyre on the 19" wheel? My wheel offset is et44. My tyres are Kumho KU39 235/35/19.
