lol keep up the discussion guys, this thread is funny... so many ''captain obvious" statements and self-contradictions WITHIN the same posts, it makes for good reading.

anyway, it's making me more stupid every time i read something like "these are the REAL WORLD prices that you'd be subject to, so i dont know where you get YOUR figures", followed by "but then, you have to ring around because prices may vary" (sounds ****ing stupid, doesnt it?).

you're in melbourne. i say stop debating prices with people from interstate.

check out volkspower (brett there does all the work on my car, he's a top bloke and im always confident in his work), volkework, audvolks, etc etc.

lots of specialists, if you dont feel like taking your car to a service department that overcharges you for putting the wrong fricking oil in your car (as has been the case with a few boys in another thread).

LOL, haha. First I am lazy to call around, now I lack ability to negotiate. To get a better price, all I have to do is ask - duh!

Doesn't sound stupid at all when you're responding to a claim that the prices you quoted were not real. But take things out of context and twist them around if it makes you feel better about yourself.

Oh look some more twisting around to make it seem that all the dealers make mistakes like putting the wrong oil in, because an independent guy has never made a mistake has he!

+1 for Volkspower here as well! Dean runs a great workshop + Brett's a gun @ what he does. I've never taken mine to a stealer unless they're repairing under warranty.. Why? I'm not paying top dollar for an apprentice to learn from their errors on MY machine. Nuff said.

Thankyou for clarifying the awesomeness of everything VW and everything the company has ever done.

I now know that any doubt is pointless.

Toowoomba Subaru/VW dealer Wippells last service charge was $95 +GST for my Golf 90 TSI and Forester XT. Most quality independents charge $80 - $100 +GST and rarely offer the convenience of free transport to/from your home or work.

Unfortunately, in the real world, it's much more than that.

I have an invoice for the 15k and 30k service for my MkV GTI, it was $450 & $700 respectively.
My 90TSI has had both services done at Wippells VW Toowoomba with the 15,000km costing $268 and the 30,000km costing $302. I usually get my Forester serviced there too as they are also a Subaru dealer and it's even cheaper and continue to go there because I have no complaints with their work.
