Well done Browny...
Is Camberwell doing the re-coding on delivery still?
Ladies and gents
I can now confirm that my lights have been ordered!!! When I get the lights, they are not going to work very well....as it is pretty hard to get lights working when there is no car to attach them to...hahaha.
Anyway, a bib big thanks to Ozram for the contact and advice as well as AdamD and GTI Mk6 for their support, it is greatly appreciated people!!
Cheers

wow this has been a very good quality thread especially from Ozram, AdamD and golfitup fellas, at first i wasnt sure about my decision on this upgrade purchase in early stages of the thread but now def. know what i'm doing about it lol.
Should be getting the LED's next month hopefully.
Hi all so i went to VW dealer in brisie and asked about the LED's at the servies desk while was getting my other golf serviced, straight answer was no, so then i said that i know exactly whats the problem and even how to fix it the only thing i needed was the tool to do it which they have, still the answer was no because apparently some loooooong codes have to be put into the system in order to re-program it.
I think half the time people that work there dont know much apart from standard factory upgrades, apparently i was one of the few to actually inquire and definetely the 1st one to have exceptional amount of info on the problem.
Which brings me to a question, does anyone know a place in QLD that could help me to reprogram the LED's????
I've read that VCDS is actually easier to use for non-trivial changes. I've also been told (but can't verify) that the VW service tool only allows a limited number of modifications to certain values for a given car before it prevents further changes. If VWA isn't prepared to endorse this and provide explicit instructions to dealers, you'll probably have more luck contacting your friendly local VCDS-wielding VWW member and handing over a case of beer in exchange for a recode.

All you say is porobably true. But why whould VW deaer service centres use a 3rd party tool when they have their own?
The other thing is, why should these dealer service centres have to help people who are importing these LED taillights from overseas instead of ordering it locally?
Whilst I agree that it'd be nice if everyone helped out everyone in this world, lets not kid ourselves about why businesses exist. Your milage may vary of course, some dealers bend over backwards to go the extra mile. But they are certainly under no obligation too...
And that's the thing, why should they know more than just the standard factory upgrades or dealer accesssories they sell?
Sorry, I wasn't trying to insinuate that VWA or a dealer should assist customers with this change. They're entirely within their rights to refuse, and IMO that's entirely reasonable. I'd suggest that anyone who's contemplating this mod should not expect dealer assistance, and should be prepared to seek out help from individuals or businesses who use VCDS.

Yep - it's all good, neither you or GTI4fun have specifically said the dealers should do this... it's a bit of preemptive "setting realistic expectations" on my behalf
creying, i'm not expecting for the dealers to jump over all sorts of hoops in order to help certain individual, but i cant stop noticing the difference of service between pre-purchase of the car and pos-purchase. Is it just me or once the car is purchased the dealers just worry about service and warranty more then anything??? I'm not trying to start a debate here i'm just saying how i'm seeing things from my point of view. One more thing you said 'why they should know more then standard and factory upgrades' ummmm why shouldnt they??? I think it would in contrary help their businesses if they did just that little bit extra.
BTW sorry about the comment that VCDS was a VW tool, after reading this post i developed an idea that it was but there you go i was wrong my apologies. What sort of companies/businesses would have such tool??? Auto elec.??
