Corey, can you verify if the TPI 2021062/7 includes the CCZB variants aswell?
according to the TPI info i have, it only states "CBFA, CCTA" variants only.
that being the case, why is VW Aus refusing to fix the rattle in the octavia rs (CCZA), while fixing the GTi (CCZB) no questions asked!?!?!
i don't understand. both engines are exactly the same (mechanically). its only software (ecu) that is different.

the americans use a different (mechanically) variant of the EA888 engine for their GTIs, hence they have CCTA and CBFA, which the TPI relates to.

NA (north america) MK5/MK6 2.0 TSI Engine
    • CCTA
    • CBFA

CCT and CBF denote the engine's mechanical structure. i.e. secondary injection (CBF) vs non secondary injection (CCT). A, the 4th letter, denotes the power output for the calibration, i.e both rated in the us for 207ft-lb/200hp.

ROW (rest of the world) MK6 and A3 2.0 TSI Engines
    • CCZA - A3
    • CCZB - MK6

CCZ denotes the european mechanical structure. A and B denote a software calibration change for different power levels.
    A has 200hp, B has 210hp.

    - TSI Trans CBFA NA 2.0 TSI 200 HP
    - TSI Trans CCTA NA 2.0 TSI 200 HP
    - TSI Trans CCZA ROW 2.0 TSI 147kW (200 PS), 280Nm
    - TSI Trans CCZB ROW 2.0 TSI 154kW (210 PS), 280Nm

if vw aus told me (and skoda aus) that they won't do it because the TPI only applies to the CCTA and CBFA variants, i'd understand - their EA888 engine structure is actually different to what we have here.
however vw aus are fixing the GTIs here under warranty, despite them, also having a different variant (CCZB) to the TPI!
why can't they (vw) apply the fix to the CCZB too?

the tpi issued is based on the engine variant - not on the "brand" of the car (vw, audi, skoda, seat - all under VWaG).
    does vw aus understand this?!?!

no good/luck i guess if the vw techo firmly believes the RS and the GTI have different engines!! if only they knew!
makes me also question why use vw service centre to service the car if they don't know the differences? i'm better of taking it to audi as their A3s use the exact same CCZA engine. i wonder if they have a tpi for the CCZA? hmm......
then again, based on vw's treatment, what luck do i have with audi doing it under warranty for my skoda, let alone touch it!!

Unfortunately I don't have a contact in the Skoda camp. But I agree completely with what you're saying, that it should apply equally to the CCZA and CCZB. The TPI was developed by VWoA and so it still seems to be a bit US centric. It sounds to me like a cop-out.

But if they're taking that route, push for your entire turbo charger to be replaced *shrugs*

i assure you the vw tech support are aware the engines are the same between vw/skoda.

I fitted the clip to a skoda this week under warranty. Under approval by vw/skoda tech support

So what's the deal then buzuki? Is dArK5HaD0w just getting the run-around by a lazy dealer, or some other situation?

It could be quite possible the dealer is being lazy. I do know the guys in tech support pretty well. I really dont know what to say.

Ill be seeing them on tuesday so Ill see if i can get some info out of them as to why skoda hasn't adopted the tpi or why they have restricted it to certain engines.

Clearly alot of people are having the issue on many variants of engine.

its not the dealer, he has been helpful. his hands r tied by skoda management and vw service at lennock.
skoda told me the tpi doesn't apply to skoda vehicles.
vw service (the techo) reluctantly agreed to "take a look", but all along they had the mentality of 'its not a vw...ain't going to fix it'.
"they don't have the same engine as the gti".
"there is no tpi for skoda" - fair enough, but i could ask them in return - "did u read the tpi? did u c wat engines it applies to? how come ur fixing the gtis no questions asked?"

i could b an a55 n make a big fuss about the way vw aus is handling this.......
....end of the day, i don't want to b that customer who sent the meal back to the kitchen, only to have it pissed on, smeared in **** and then brought out looking all good!

    Yeah i understand your point.

Worst case you could buy the clip yourself? Its literally a 5min fit. But at $90+ does seem pricey. But if its gonna shut an annoying rattle up, Id do it.

Rang barloworld glen waverley and spoke to their service department, they haven't got a clue when the clips will be in, useless. Said to ring back once a month to check if they are in. Won't be buying another vw if this is the service they provide.
