MK6 GTI - Rattle upon acceleration - Resolved via TPI: 2021062/7

I called up VW Barloworld Glen Waverley and apparently 5 people had called up and booked before me.

I was told to just come down and one of the guys will go for a drive with me for 10minutes or so to confirm the sound.

If its confirmed they will fit the part free of charge. I asked if the part had already been ordered for the other people and she was not sure, and went off and spoke to the parts department.

Her words from the parts department was that "they were expecting a lot of enthusiast owners to contact them regarding the issue in the short term, so they have ordered parts in preparation for this".

Can anyone post a PDF of the official VWA document?

I want to take this to my Skoda dealer and get them started on hassling Skoda head office for an official fix.

My Skoda dealer is not a VW dealer and from experience cannot access VW information.

Any assistance gratefully appreciated.

Ive currently got a clip on order for a skoda, so maybe they will take notice. Skoda head office is VGA, so im sure they are aware this is also going to be an issue on the skoda.

I haven't noticed this on my car unless I am part deaf. Mine is a march 11 build GTI. Is there a cut off build date where this issue is not showing up after? I have about 1400ks now, does this show up after a certain number of km travelled?

JPD....you'll get the noise straight off the showroom floor.

Line up next to some armco/a wall, you hear it. Windows down, even slight acceleration will cause it.

Went to me dealer today to discuss the little scratch on my rear spoiler that was there on delivery. I asked about the fix / clip above and the service rep knew all about it. Immediately offered an appointment to have it fixed.

Mi16 spot on, alleyway and you will hear it straight away.

I've noticed that the rattle noise has disappeared (or at least muted enough so that I don't notice it)???!!!

This is after having the full APR RSC turboback exhaust fitted.

I didn't see the tech info - I gave them my VIN no, they gave me a coffee and sat me on the couch in front of the TV while they looked it up on their computer. Part was ordered and I was booked in for when the next loan car was available (I need a car for work...)

Took my car to JH this morning for them to confirm I had the rattle.
They didn't even have to drive it.
I walked in, talked to the service manager, he knew all about it, and said he would order the clip and it would be covered by warranty.
Easy as that.

Just booked mine in with McCarrolls in Waitara, service fella knew all about it, checked the VIN and confirmed they had the part in stock.

Friday morning mine will be rattle-less!
