I Spoke with VW Australia again yesterday and they told me that Germany has provided a fix to VW Australia but VW Australia haven't given it/notified the dealers yet. They expect this to happen 'soon' could be a week, could be a month, could be longer ...

Once again this sounds in line with what Corey is working on/saying...

Yeah - essentially the dealer that I have been working with ordered the clips off their own bat, and are performing tests before and after, to provide the info to VGA to help them in making their decision of what to do.

This does not mean that no other dealer can't do the same, or offer it and cover the costs, or hope that VGA will honour the warranty etc. But yeah... still haven't seen anything from VGA that they're officially covering this... yet.

    Thumbs up

My car went into JH this mornig and they had a look around. Confirmed I have the rattle and said they will now order the parts from Germany and will need my car for half a day in about 2 weeks time to install it. Again no mention of any charge so I believe they are either covering the cost or VGA is.

Thanks bushnut. I was hoping someone would publish that sooner or later.

About the only thing that it doesn't make clear is, whether VGA have approved the cost of the clip, and the labour, to be covered by the warranty.

    This is fantastic!

Would the approach be to just contact the dealer advising them of the issue once again, and possibly reference the Technical product information Transaction No.: 2021062/6 Will this help them in anyway knowing exactly what to do instead of doing the entire diagnostics again?

Thanks a heap guys for perusing this to a point where there is now definitely a fix.

With regard to warranty, personally I will be fighting this to the death to ensure this is covered by warranty. It should not have been there in the first place.

Just called my dealer, they said to bring the car in and let them listen to the noise first. So I'll be going in to pay them a visit some time and see what they say.

So it's at the discretion of the dealer? My car doesnt do it all the time and knowing my luck she will be on her best behaviour and not do it when the dealer takes it for a drive.
