I can't understand the concept of a 'rattle' being normal. Is this not a fault? I had purchased a brand new Sony TV. I was getting a 'crackle' from one of the speakers at a certain volume. The TV was replaced.

Corey: most decent quality manufacturers rely on a tool called voc (voice of customer) to focus on improving the quality of a product relative to the customers perception. Whilst I do not expect to have the issue fixed immediately I hope that the more customers complain to vw the more they will listen. I work for a manufacturer as a support engineer and know that the more complaints we receive about a specific problem the more resources we allocated to fixinG it. Hopefully gti buyers in the future will benefit and also that future buyers will be aware of the rattle.

My point is... look at the age of this thread. Look at the number of pages. Look at the number of people who said they were going to do something... and then haven't really.

There have been offers to get an engineer to look at this. APR has offered to investigate a solution if VAG won't. There have been suggestions of banding together to collectively raise the issue.

Yet, none of this has happened.

So since you were quite affirmative in your previous post on the topic, I asked what are you going to do.
Judging by your post there, it seems, nothing....

For me, I don't let this "issue" bother me.

I have learned to enjoy the pluses and overlook some imperfections along the way. If I let such things rile me up so much, I would be shortening my own lifespan. IMO, life is a series of compromises and then you die - so I enjoy it as much as I can.

We have to stand together and fight VWA or they will not do anything about it.

If anyone else is interested in raising this issue with VWA this is the person I emailed - Anke.Koeckler@volkswagen.com.au

I do agree with you point that life is too short... but hey... it's disappointing that the rattle is there is the first place Oh.. and I do genuinely enjoy the car before and after 2500rpm... admittedly it is only for a short second or so that it rattles for... but it rattles!

the rattle really doesn't bother me, i'm either driving economy style(under 2000rpm), or I'm over 3000rpm when I'm playing on the twisties. even when I do hear it, its not an annoying sound, and tbh if never read this thread I wouldn't of thought twice about it

and the car is so nice in every way that the rattle would have to make a sound like a humping gorilla before it became a problem or a fault

I propose we have a meeting every year to talk about what we're going to do about this!

So from looking at that link, it looks as though Volkswagen have come up with a small spring-clip type thingy to go on the wastegate actuator rod and prevent this rattle.
