I didn't notice this 'rattling' noise in the 3 test drives I had b4 buying the car but if it doesn't damage the vehicle and is not that audible, I guess I can live with this otherwise multiple award winning pocket rocket?

MkVI Golf GTI | Candy White | DSG | Leather | Bi-xenon | Sunroof | Dynaudio | Park Assist | MDI | Tint | FINALLY RECEIVED!!
Guys i test drove the GTI this morning for an hour before i bought it
I could not for the life of me hear the noise, same with my mate.
I was driving beteen 2300 to 3000 revs both on the freeway and normal roads with the windows down and closed. Could not hear anything.
With the windows down and music off all i could hear is the wind.
With the windows closed all i could hear was silence and the engine!
Will see when i get the car in May
my brother in law got his on thursday, i told him about this issue and i spend most of yesterday afternoon driving in this car,na no issue with this one . sorry
That is good ... I hope it stays like that.
I suppose it means that is not every car is affected ... and maybe it is fixable.
MY16 GTI 40
The more cars that don't have the noise means that the conclusion offered in the technical bulletin Volkswagen released to explain the problem ("noises are construction-related and normal") will need to be revised. The adjective "normal" will not apply and the noise will instead be an anomaly that will need to be addressed. Similar to a door squeak or interior rattle that is often fixed under warranty.

Went for a short drive in a Tiguan today. Tiguan landed in Aus in January 2010. Couldn't hear the rattle. Tiguan great little SUV to drive. Makes a compelling case for AWD.
Cheers.
