Well it would be deemed as normal operation, but is very annoying to probably 80% of customers. So i guess they are forced to release a fix.

That's good, I hope the rattle doesn't develop over time for you.

I dropped into the dealer this morning, went for a drive with a technician. He heard it straight away, they have now ordered the clip for me. Hopefully the clip will eliminate it.

I went into Southyarra, VIC service centre a couple of weeks back. They acknowledge the problem but they told me that they have a written technical sheet from VW telling them that it's meant to be that way and not to do anything. I've shot them an email with the fix posted up here but they refuse to believe that. I even called Barloworld Melbourne and they told me to go back to Southyarra stating that if the fix is out, every dealership would know about it. So if anybody could point me in the direction to really get the ball rolling with Southyarra VIC dealership that would be great. I am running out of ways to tell them my problems because they keep on acting ignorant about it. Thanks.

Technical product information Transaction No.: 2021062/7
Engine - rattling/jarring noises from engine/exhaust system Release date: 18-Aug-2011

    Customer statement / workshop findings

    Customer statement:

    • Rattling noises from engine/exhaust system

    • Rattling or jarring noise from the area engine compartment / exhaust system occurs between 1800 and 2900 rpm.

    Production change

    Measure

Fit a spring clip on the wastegate adjustment

    rattle free!!

bit of an issue with the dealer though, as I supplied my own (OEM ofcourse) clip they initially refused to install it, anyway after I insisted they look into it further they eventually did.

    nw spellcheck ^

chase this one up guys, really.. really worth the effort!

Just a query.....I notice service tech says "found rattle to be quieter" and you say "rattle free"
Can you hear it at all now Vaku?

BTW, any improvement will be a + IMO
