Let me take a stab at answering that one...........maybe its because VAG perceive there is a demand for such cars. My guess is they would be right......they don't get it wrong too often do they? If I'm not mistaken, each generation of the Golf has had a cabrio version (if you include the Eos as the equivalent of a MK V Golf).

Yeah, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
If you like the Golf GTI or R, and you also like cabriolet's, then these can't be that bad!

I like the GTI one.. for some reason the R one doesnt flow as well with its slightly sharper front end styling.

    Golf R CAB question

    I just noticed this...

SPY PICS: VW tees up Golf seven
Volkswagen Golf R Cabriolet: VW's hottest ever drop-top on the way |*CarAdvice

You guys probably spotted this already, but I just joined the forum...and wanted to ask...

    Would you buy one?

The issue I think we will find with a Cab version of the R is price.
If the current Golf Cab is approx. $8k more than the standard Golf, will it be a similar price jump for the R spec?

The same question would probably apply for the GTI Cab too.

Personally- I think it's damn cool, 4Motion Convertible under 70k? Yes please!

    Hell no.

    a) The Golf is lardy enough already
    b) Hatches turned into convertibles are always a poor compromise
