Sure, the R has less lag than lots of other cars out there.
But as I said, anyone who claims that it responds in the same way as a K03 has no credibility. Full stop.
Sorry for the delay in responding. I have been trying to get home all night. I can never make it away from a set of traffic lights. The amount of lag makes it undriveable.

Nope. The K03 is too much like a turbo diesel.

Our R responds better than my GTI so Corey is correct, it does respond differently

You're allowed a different opinion. You just can't claim that the R is "lag free" in comparison to a GTI, or has the torque and power in the same RPM regions - cause it doesn't. Not my opinion. Fact. Look at the VW specs. Look at the K03 & K04 specs. Look at the dynos.
If you want to argue that all those companies and their specs are wrong, well then, you go from having a "differing opinion" to just being delusional.
It's one thing to love your R and hold it above all else. But when you try to argue that reality is not correct, well, that's the definition of delusional...
Everyone is agreed that the K03 and the K04 are different turbos with different characteristics. Just as they were on the 8L S3 and the MkIV GTI.
But I to make out that the K04 (which is a small turbo in the scheme of things) is some kind of hideous lag mosnter is laughable.
