That looks awesome. It also has the park assist and is a 5 door. But there's about another $2400 in options that I can't see (could be interior things or chassis control etc).
Just saw 3 of them in the showroom. very nice looking. RED & black on display.

I saw a red one on 18s at VWA HQ the other day. looked awesome.
A mate of mine went to the press launch this week. he had the Mazda3 MPS all week last week, which was still very fresh in the mind. He said the Golf is a much better product and generally awesome.
Also, Hans Stuck sends his regards![]()
The GTI is now on the official VW website:

Hmmmm.... headlight washers on halogen headlights? Something ain't right there. And by law the fuel consumption sticker is supposed to be displayed on the windscreen. Naughty dealer.
I just can't justify that sort of money on a GTI. That's R money. This red one was $58880 drive away
I agree. Just a few months back GTIs were being sold for around $45000 because of "free" on-roads. Add $3,000 for leather and I would rather have one of them. Maybe the new shape will grow on me.
There is no headlight washers. They're just not making two separate bumpers. All GTI's will the provision for washers on the bumper, but they aren't present without the Bi-Xenons
No it's not. You can't even get a base model R for that much (or R32). You can't compare a drive away price of one car to an RRP of another. If the new R is the same cost as a R32, then it'll be $61,706 drive away for 3dr manual, $65,118 for for 3dr DSG. Both of those prices are with ZERO options. Which means it'll have less features than the $58k GTI pictured above....
Solitaire VW at Medindie in SA have a Silver 4dr with manual configuration as their demo.
