You can buy the sender unit for the gauge on it's own.

Hi all,
I have a mate with a out of warranty MK6 GTI. His fuel gauge has started playing up, suddenly dropping to empty with half a tank, seems the sender has packed it in. Do you have to get a whole new assembly at $400 odd, or is there a particular sensor that plays up?
I get that is seems to be a common problem, just wondered if anyone has some info on a less pricey fix! For sure you can get a used part, but then how long till it plays up.....
thanks in advance,
Greg.

Is this part number correct? Where can I buy one?
Probably been revised since 2016.
From what I can see, only thing I can do is buy entire pump/sender unit....
Just a heads up on this issue. I think it’s the same as what I had and it was actually the sender loom connector. Mine got re-wired which fixed the issue from memory.

Take the pump out and give the sender a clean up. I have given them a bit of a buff with metal polish. Then blast with brake cleaner.
