[QUOTE=Dubya;443732]Hey, elisiX, shouldn't you be getting the RVC as well seeing it is only $500 extra?

As the RNS510 and RCD510 both support the RVC it is a very low marginal cost to add this significant feature, don't you think (and only a tiny % on top of your fully loaded car)?

You seem to have specified every other more costly option (except power driver's seat). Was leaving out the RVC an oversight?

(BTW William, Lawsy is in Brisbane, and so too his dealer presumably. Perhaps other buyers circling and threatening to "take the bone away" will focus his mind.)

I agree - I had the RVC added and I think for $500 this is a great buy!

    2 reasons.

    1. I had a deal signed for $57k which included everything but the Park Assist and MDI cable. Within 24 hours of signing the deal, I realized a greater discount could be had. So I called my salesperson and exercised my right to a cooling off period. I then referred to deals I'd seen on this site. He said I can either take $1500 off the price to stop me canceling and going elsewhere, or add in another option to this value. I chose Park Assist at $1400 + SD and the MDI cable. A nominal cost but was not initially included. I didn't want to push the issue further by adding in the RVC as well.

    2. Further to the above, I didn't really see the need for the RVC as the RNS display will show a silhouette of objects near by.

I'm not totally sure how the RVC works though seeing as you would only be able to have one or the other on the display (camera or silhouette).

In hindsight, if the order wasn't already placed, I might have added it but we made the deal literally on Christmas.

This comment was from Whitejames on MKV.com which kinda sums up my own assessment.

Dealer says you cannot run the RVC & Park Assist together ... one or the other regarding the radio display. Park sensors still beep, but you either have the RVC or the computer based silhouette.

You can view both at the same time, the OPS overlays the video from the RVC.

Not with the factory firmware. You can switch between the RVC and the OPS using an on-screen button. I wouldn't want an overlay since it would most likely distort the camera view and render the image virtually useless.

agree, it's not much faster than a mkv or mkvi GTI, but you don't get an R32 for that reason.

you get it for the lagless NA power, 4 paw grip, cruiser ride quality and lets not forget the ball tingling sound it makes...

to say it's an "abomination among Golfs" is a little unfair.
    Hans Stuck also said...

“We always had a GTI in the family, from the first to the sixth. The Pirelli Editions too. There were no gaps here. Even when I was under contract with BMW, I preferred to drive to the Nürburgring in a GTI. It was in a GTI that I drove 911 drivers to distraction on the North Loop. My wife was even driving a GTI when she first caught my attention.”

Murphy, what do you use? The cam or silhouette?

And which do you find more functional.

Might give the dealer a call and see if it can be added (seeing as build doesnt begin until Mid Feb).

Hmm, I'm almost certain I saw the camera and park assist working in tandem during a demo at the GTI drive day at Eastern Creek last year???

Murphy, there are later firmwares available for the RNS510 that give the functionality, and they do not overlay in the way you describe... there are pics around on the web that show the display, have to see if I can find one... but they work fine together anyway.
