Mk6 Golf R rough idle suspect PCV

    Hi all
Just looking for some advice re the above
2010 Mk6R DSG 29,000km standard tune, owned from new.
I noticed today on the way to work a whistling noise followed by an uneven idle, idle jumps to around 1200rpm for a few seconds and back down to normal, the cycle repeats about every 5 seconds. The whistling noise sounds a bit like a dry alternator bearing but I suspect it's the PCV sucking, lifting the dipstick slightly results in a normal (ish) idle And the air rushes into the dipstick hole as I would expect from a failed PCV.
Please confirm (or otherwise) my suspicions are correct.
Also please advise the best way forward as the car is now out of warranty, should I replace with standard or go with an after marked product, I may consider a mild tune at a later date.

    All advice much appreciated

Id say your suspicions are correct with a failed PCV (very common) but if you scan the car for errors it should confirm.

Ive got the PCV off my car (Golf R) which was only on there for about 5,000kms if you want a cheap fix. $25 and its yours.

    Hiya
Good point, I should have mentioned the codes, I had a quick look and if my memory serves me right there was just 1 pending code stating lean on one bank, I can't we remember which.
