I've said it once, I'll say it again... there's a sticky on this stuff in the Car Audio section.

I know there are threads in the Audio section, however it is still in relation to my car order and you get more people looking here then in the other forum:

Apparently the iPhone 4.0 Software update has broken alot of bluetooth setups. The Skoda kit is apparently one of them.

I was wanting to see if any other users have experienced the same thing, or if they have not.

The reason for this! (before you move this thread or delete it) is the fact that I have my GTI in the country now, and I need to give the dealer final confirmation if I want to go ahead and install bluetooth into the car.

They CAN order in the Skoda kit for me, which from all accounts is the best one you can get. However if it no longer works for iPhone iOS4, then I dont know what to do or what other decent bluetooth options exist that do not have issues.

The last thing I want to do is spend $1500 getting bluetooth installed and then not having it work with the iPhone.

Yes I am aware that there are other phones available, however I am on a contract that does not end for another 1.5 years, so its not going to be an option.
Can you please let me know!

Option 1: Stick with the iturd and keep using IOS3 especially seeing as IOS4 is a slug on older handsets.

Option 2: Suck it up, sell the phone (plenty of suckers out there to buy them) and upgrade to a decent handset like the Google Nexus One where you don't have to worry about the Apple empire deciding to use their own "standards".

Even if you did get a compatible car kit now, what's to stop Apple from putting out an update for the OS that stops it working with that car kit?

The MY11 will come with standard bluetooth built in that will work better than the premium set up

I've seen the PDF as well but doesn't say too much about what it is. Should be similar to the skoda bluetooth i assume, not sure if it would be better.

I do not have the option of the MY11 bluetooth setup. My car has already been made and shipped to Australia. Im waiting for my dealer to call me to organise a collection of car. However when they call I need to let them know if I want to go ahead with the installation of the Skoda kit.

As I said, there are people on this forum that have Bluetooth installed in their GTI's, that must have iPhones. So let us know how the update went!!!

Maverick I can see where you are coming from. However I have a whole mac setup running at home and work. Along with Mobile Me subscriptions and alike. Im not changing the way my setup works just for bluetooth in a car.

Without getting into some iPhone vs Android vs whatever else arguement. I love the iphone and im not changing the phone im using just to fit a car.

I was wanting to see if people have maybe tried deleting the Skoda kit from their iphones as a device and removing the iphone from the Skoda kit and re doing the link to see if it fixes the issues.

And you know this how? Very few details have been released and it's not made by Volkswagen but another company who have a new product that wasn't designed specifically for Volkswagens but has been adapted for use.

To say it's better than the premium is premature as it hasn't been tested and I really doubt it's anywhere near as good as the Skoda kit (also installed in Audi's and Volkswagens).

Not to mention there is no guarantee it will work with an iturd 4.

    That's right, it's a $550 option - not free.

Obviously if you have a skoda BT kit I wouldn't upgrade to OS4, just jailbreak it instead.
