I have lost the one touch windows up/down. Any ideas how to get them back?

Hah, coincidence, so did mine. All I did was fully down, then fully up, and auto came back (unlike my back right window which was never coded right from the factory and no amount of coaxing could get auto running until I matched the coding with the rear left, that is another story).

My battery died this morning. RACV came out and fitted a new one. A few error lights on the dash as mentioned above, which disappeared as soon as I started driving, but I have lost the one touch windows up/down. Any ideas how to get them back?

All you need to do is press and hold each window switch whilst the window moves through its full range of travel, from fully closed to fully open, then back to fully closed. The door controller will then learn the limits of the range, and the auto function will work again. Simple.

This is required every time the battery is disconnected.

Hello,
Recently my car battery died and had to get NRMA to jumpstart, and since my car is ~4 years old, it is about time I replaced my battery.

1. I was just wondering if you have any recommendations on a good, long-lasting car battery that's not too adversely affected by extreme cold/heat? By that I mean a low of -6 degrees in winter, and around 40 in summer)

2. NRMA did ring me up with a deal offering to replace my car battery with a 'premium' battery (I forget what brand) & dispose of the old one for about $230. Is it a good deal?

I'm leaning towards #1 at the moment. That is, buy the battery myself and get it replaced.

I just have a follow-up question - I read up on the E38 and E44. They are premium batteries which are suitable for Diesel and Premium cars.

Since my golf TSI is neither Diesel nor premium, would the premium E38 battery still be good for my car?

You should be able to get Bosch S5 battery for your car for under $200, and being S5 it's a top quality and very durable. I sell them normally for $180, though in Adelaide only.

Since my golf TSI is neither Diesel nor premium, would the premium E38 battery still be good for my car?

The E38 and E44 batterires are both Varta Silver Dynamic models, the only difference being the height of 175mm and 190mm, respectively, with a 30 CCA improvement for the taller model. The approx $40 cheaper alternative Varta Blue Dynamic models E43 and E11, would still be an excellent choice. I am currently using a Varta Blue Dynamic model F17 in our MB C200K, which is a perfect fit, and less than half the price of the original black cased OEM Varta battery. I'm sure Bosch batteries are excellent, and worth investigating local availability, and if they are any cheaper, comparing like-for-like.

I'm not sure about AU but in the UK, Bosch & Varta silver case come out of the same factory to the same build spec & just have different stickers on them.

I got the Federal AGM (9AGM48, identical fit to original) for a deep cycle battery and short wait for delivery, while these deep cycle jobs are expensive (~$300), I think it is worth it vs buying two standard batteries in less than 5 years and having the inconvenience twice, not to mention the number of times I do cycle a battery over its life due to not often having long runs and sometimes not driving for up to a week or two.
The Varta silver is a deep cycle battery, AGM tech, but not readily available in Sydney I think (certainly not with reasonably priced& quick delivery).

Has anyone bought a replacement battery from VW recently who would like to share how much they paid?

my sister has a 2 year old eos which wouldn't start today after a quick run down to the shops, after a bit of juice from some jumper leads I got her going again but I think for piece of mind we should replace it. Are these items covered under warranty?

Also may consider other options and opinions regarding aftermarket stuff but I would like it to fit in the battery casing
