Apologies if this has been covered before, did a quick check and couldn't find the answers
The battery on my 2010 golf is starting to struggle when starting on these cold mornings. It is the original battery. Since I have more than 6 years out of it, I guess a new one is on the cards.
Question is.....once the battery has been replaced, what (if anything) needs to be reset? I am guessing the security on the radio for a start and do I need to take it to VW to do this?
    Thanks in advance
Changed mine last year.......6.5 years old, still functioning. No issues at all on restart. Replaced with identical Varta from VW dealer. Approx $120.

The battery in my GTI died a few weeks after the 3 year service. I rang the dealer and asked them why they didn't check it when it was serviced. They said they did and sometimeS they can fail suddenly......hmmmm

The battery is the achilles heel of the modern gadget laden car and that's why BMW replace the battery at the yearly service.
I guess the call out and reputation costs were high enough to make it worth while.

That's right, the battery can die suddenly. It often depends how do you look after your battery too. The life of the car battery is usually 3-6 years.

Very suddenly. I picked up a second hand Mk6 R with 33,000kms on it.....was cranking like new for the few days i'd owned it then bam, it just died. No warning at all.

I just had the exact same experience. Bought a Mk6 R in October '16 with 17k kms on it. Has been running (and starting) perfectly til now and has 21k kms on the clock. Then suddenly the battery died suddenly this morning.
