I went for the Yuasa, thought I would give it a shot as I went through two Vartas in less than 4 years/84,000km and figured I couldn't do much worse than that with the Yuasa, however YMMV (literally).
$400 for a Varta? Mine was $225 and the specifications were way in excess of the OEM unit. Bosch are similar prices & just as good (possibly a better warranty).

Yuasa are a good battery. I'd fit one in a New York minute.

Just remember, don't lift using the terminals.

Many of the Euro style batteries have inbuilt handles these days - very helpful.

We had a Honda Accord (in the extended family) with a Yuasa which lasted 10 years.

Just changed the car battery last week, all of a sudden it just went dead overnight no warning signs at all.
Not a bad run, just over 4 years old on the oem battery.

Picked up a sealed super start battery from Lansvale for $150 and 10 mins to fit, cheaper than NRMA who wanted double the price.

ALCO Calcium batteries are an excellent battery if you don't want to pony up for an AGM. Have two in the tractors, one driving a pump, another two in each car.

    Replacing the bettery

    Hi everyone.
Apologies if this has been covered before, did a quick check and couldn't find the answers
The battery on my 2010 golf is starting to struggle when starting on these cold mornings. It is the original battery. Since I have more than 6 years out of it, I guess a new one is on the cards.
Question is.....once the battery has been replaced, what (if anything) needs to be reset? I am guessing the security on the radio for a start and do I need to take it to VW to do this?
    Thanks in advance

Your radio will work and once you drive the fault for the steering and the traction control should also turn itself off, though maybe the airbag fault will need resetting with scanner.

Did mine last year, nothing needed to be reset, just change it straight away. As in unplug the old one and plug in the new one. Yes lots of faults until you drive forward for about 10 metres.
