I find weather (more so ambient temp) affects things greatly - which is obviously a side effect of a forced induction system.
Higher ambient = higher intake temp + less cooling from intercooler = hotter charge air = less boost before detonation!

My runs at 16deg felt noticeably faster than my runs at 24deg (the numbers confirmed it too). Adding 5% weight (1pax) also makes a difference, less so in the Golf than the Lotus though, where 1pax is 10% or more weight increase!

It would depend on the options.

    i have a 3dr with 18's
if compared to a 5dr with DSG 19's, leather and sunroof,

In previous conversations, i recall people mentioning the following approximate figures (i hope my memory serves me well)

5dr +30Kg, DSG +20kg, leather adds about 20kg (seat heaters) sunroof +20kg, 19's would add 1-2kg per corner.
If those figures are correct, that's 100kg (7%), Then there's electric seats, and DCC

Even though my car would be one of the lightest stock R around, i'd still be slower than a fully optioned DSG...

Yeah I gotta say, I don't see DAVE how you think that an extra ~10% of power you get from a tune which might give another 0.3 secs improvement.. But how an extra ~8% more weight and colder climate won't make any difference on a 2.0ltr turbo.

Not huge, but it's a difference you can feel, for sure.

Take note of IMO and personal experience! Have done that many gtech and performance box runs in the last couple weeks that all I'm saying is that it has made fark all difference because the times have been all over the place. And the quicker times weren't when it was colder or a passenger less! I agree that more weight (esp nearly 10%) should make a significant difference but the devices being used to obtain the measurements just aren't consistent enough IMO.

In any case, I find the numbers below more interesting the the gtech/pbox numbers....

    ferret (33deg stated)
    DSG - APR Stage 1 & Carbonio
    13.782 @ 102.21mph

    DSG - GIAC Tune Only?
    13.33 @ 103.53mph

Couldn't find any other R figures, not all of them were in the 1/4m thread in motorsport?

Met Ferret out at WSID tonight. My car is a work in progress at the moment and when it is finished I will let everyone know what has been done. At the moment it is a dump pipe and a tune.

First run was a traffic light gp test. Stage in S then when the last amber lit plant it. No launch control just as you would do on the street. Result:

Second run was my first attempt at an LC take off. I don't know what revs it launched but I think the result speaks for itself:

Runs 3, 4 & 5 were nowhere near as impressive as run 2. I was watching the launch revs and it was around 3000 each time but took some time to get there. Run 2 seemed to rev to where ever it launched without hesitation.

Golf R 5 door, DSG, EVOMS CAI, TXS DP, Recode Tune.

Well... technically the inclusion of the downpipe means he's probably running Stage II software - a downpipe being the only "requirement" for Stage II. The rest of the stuff (intercooler, intake, full exhaust) is just optional...

You can have a downpipe and still just be running a Stage I ECU, but depending on the ECU and DP, you're at risk of throwing CEL lights etc

Don't know how zBeasty got such a good launch on that run, he made the WRXs look bad. My best of the night was 13.318s, I have all the Stage 2+ kit but still running Stage 1 ECU, will post times soon. Best 60' time was 2.057s.
