A big difference to my MKV GTI but I guess KO4 = higher consumption and more than happy to accept it as part of an amazing car but still hoping it improves!
So it's not just the AWD that causes issues...

The APR Stage 1 will improve on it too!

I get around (if you believe the MFD) 570-590km a tank, that is mainly city driving. I have a light foot 95% of the time.

Apr stg2 with man. I rarely gun it to redline if ever. Usually hit 300-340km when it gets to half tank, that usually gives me a good idea if I'm being conservative, but 600 is pretty much the norm for me now

I'm averaging 550 a tank. And that is filling up before I get the warning buzzer.

Most of my driving is Military Road/Pacific Highway then expressway or country roads.

First tank in the GTD, 660 km so far with 125 km to go according to the car.

I use the 'fuel log' android app to track consumption. No figures yet of course.

If my primary concern in buying a Golf was fuel consumption then of course I would have bought a diesel but I'm ecstatic to say I didn't! Happily, my primary concern was performance and everytime I put my foot down, I am vindicated in my choice by a deep throaty roar that builds into a howl as I am pinned to my seat by g forces not generated by any other stock GTI built thus far. Care factor for fuel consumption at this point is about 2/10. Happy motoring gents!

Perhaps but would you not enjoy the same power with less fuel use ?

Let's put fuel up to $5/L

    How do you feel now

Nothing wrong with discussing fuel use on performance cars

In fact, a good discussion as it relates to how good the tune can be.

I believe care factor would be a lot higher if fuel were to cost $5/Litre as Candyman have said. I'm glad to however say that performance is great on the GTI but I'm more amazed at the engineering that went into the car, consuming this much fuel for that much output.
