Ouch....that's all I will say. Personally, I would have negotiated harder or alternatively cut down on the options that I can do without. To me, the Golf 118TSI is not a luxury or sports car, so I would stay away from options like leather, sports pack or even sunroof. These have little if any value when it comes around to selling it later.

I wouldn't say that a sports pack is a bad choice, I chose it on mine because I liked the way it made the car handle and the stance it gave the car on the road.
A sunroof is a personal thing. I had one in my beetle and thought it added to it's character..... didn't matter that it wasn't a sports car....
As a trade in, it did make a difference.

Dear Adrian,

First and foremost, if decide to get a non-stock GTI by July, better order one now! Cause if you wait till July, you will end up getting it in Nov-Dec.

As for price read up on this forum to see what others have paid for their GTIs

Insurance is a matter of shopping around, looking at different providers and what they can offer (use their online quoting systems) - there is a current thread which covers this

And finally road tax check your road authority in WA. Here in Victoria we have Vicroads and they have a pretty comprehensive website.

At least you have trains that kinda work... I was heading home from work tonight and the lights in the carriage went out so we sat in the dark for 5-10 minutes... :S
