thanks tsi guy... I'm looking forward to it... something different anyway.. I have read a few reviews and they are all saying just shy of 1000km on a tank country driving so would be happy if I got 900km.... been a petrol person for so long it's funny to change...

Hi all, very interesting reading through here. I'm looking at leasing my car through a company called McMillian shakespere. They say they baragin on the car and its options but just wondering how hard they really bargain as some of you guys have got some fantastic deals here.... anyone leased a car before.... doesn't have to be the same company, and can comment?

The quote our leasing company got from their preferred dealer (Barloworld) was the same as the normal corporate fleet discount I got from two local dealers. Obviously VW Australia give the dealers some latitude on pricing, and you would imagine in a recession they would be keen to get stock moving out the doors.

Hi, I'm just about to buy the new MkVI 118TSI and was thinking back to the very first car I bought from a dealer (Mitsubishi). After 3 hours of standing firm on the price I set before going in to the dealership and sitting in front of the Sales Manager and saying no to every offer he had, I got a new car for the price of a demo ($4k discount) along with the normal 10% off. All they did was take the car around the block, total of 30km on the ODO and sold it off to me as a demo car.

Not too sure if I can pull that off again with VW as this will be the first VW I will own. But some news report last night advised that car sales were down 20% and would have been even more if it wasn't for the 30% Govt Invest Incentive. So go hard on the Sales Managers and don't accept a "No" from a salesperson who isn't authorized to say "YES"

I'll let you guys know the outcome in 3 weeks.

    new 118 TSI DSG Price

I'm just about to buy a new 118 TSI DSG in silver
Can anyone tell me what I should be paying for the driveway price on this car? I've seen some of the posts say I should be aiming for 15% off?

That would make the car close to $30K, surely that's not right... is it?? Please let me know, if anyone can tell me somewhere selling them for this price I would be keen to buy!!!

    Thanks!!!

You have to add on on road costs first which will be around 3k or more then maybe minus the 15% off that. That should give you an indicative figure

I asked on Tuesday about a 118TSI/White/DSG/Sports/ACC and was quoted around $37000 drive away (after corporate discount) which is vitrually the same as I paid last May for my similarly-spec'd (other than ACC) GT Sport. He didn't seem interested in further reductions, so perhaps not all dealers are feeling competitive pressure.

As an aside, he noted that the Tiguan models were selling particularly well.

TG, whilst it is probably too soon to be getting screaming deals on Mk VI Golfs, for mine, that price would need to be at least $500 lower and include a roof, and perhaps metallic paint too.

It's at least $2,500 off the mark for a discerning corporate buyer such as yourself.
