No less than 10% discount I reckon.

    Good luck!

Thanks Steve! I'll definately be asking for them to throw in tinted windows and rubber floor mats.

I don't think any of my extras will require factory fitting as they already have models on the floor with sunroof and fog lamps. The rest of my extras can be pretty much fitted at the ddealership. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? I know I will get my car quicker but will it allow me to bargain more as they will want to get it off the floor???????

Thanks for all your input guys! Keep it coming

If you can get a model on the floor close to your spec then take it...

As far as asking for the tints and mats, that is the very last thing, wait untiil they have dropped the price as much as you think you can then start asking for them.

Best policy is to be prepared to walk out the door.

Or if you arent comfortable with it, there are brokers out there that will do all the legwork for you and get the best price and then charge you like $500 or something (which is usually a lot less than they save you)

Also worth investigating if you can get corporate discounts, if you work for a company of a reasonalbe size (200+ i think) and you are "eligible" for a company car, or can get a letter from the company saying you are then its worth investigating

I'd have to say, things like alloys etc will be WAY cheaper to do after purchase if it comes down to it. Plenty of wheels come up all the time just on e-bay, let alone the wheeling dealing on here. $3000 buys you a LOT of wheel aftermarket as an example. Of course if you want to finance the lot, then haggle my friend!

Things that are an easy fit, I'd consider holding off. Things like the sunroof, well, factory is the way to go. Remember floor stock is stock they have comitted to, and nothing eats a hole in a pocket like an expensive item sitting idle in your showroom. Investigate the floor stock in your area, and beyond. Transporting a car isn't that big a deal.

VW accessories at time of purchase are ludicrously dear, yet the aftermarket scene is a LOT cheaper. Also, for me, it's prolonging the fun!

IIRC a lot of people prefer to have their windows tinted at a place they select. Some dealers get the cheapest possible place to do "their" window tinting, and there can be subsequent problems with door trims and rattles. A search may throw up a few relevant threads.

Keep shopping around until the dealers start telling you to buy from someone else, then you know you are getting close to the best possible price

45k seems a hell of a lot to pay. You'll never get anything close to that when you go to resell it.

45k is not what im paying. 45k is the total cost of drive away with all those extras, WITHOUT any bargaining what so ever! Just wanted to see what everything costs as they dont list prices unless you ask them

I was offered a price of $37,400 today at Nepean for a 118TSI.

    Comfortline 118TSI Manual
    Metallic Paint - United Grey
    Sports Package
    Dynaudio 300W Audio Package
    Media Device Interface

Said he could also chuck in some floor mats and small extras.

Does anyone think I could get under $35,000 for a car like this? It will take 3-4 months to come from Germany.
