Thread: mk6 dealer negotiations

Good sound + leather = ultimate comfort . When I read Shori's post that he's got his GTI for $50K without corporate discount. It's an ideal package for me and I am wondering whether the pricing (in delivery and etc) in NSW is different from Vic?

Sorry I forgot to mention that the price quoted is for a DSG.

Hey Nath, which car yard did you go?

If they can offer me the same what Shori's gotten, I am a happy man.

Yeah it is. NSW attracts a 3% stamp duty up to $45,000, but then charges 5% on the amounts above $45,000.

VIC charges 2.5% stamp duty up to $57,009. So any car under that value (inc all options, gst, dealer delivery etc) will be slightly cheaper in VIC than NSW.

HOWEVER. Once the car is above $57,009, VIC charges 5% stamp duty on the entire amount! So not just on the amount above the threshold like in NSW. Meaning that any car above $57k in VIC will be more expensive than in NSW. Source

In addition, dealer delivery may differ (but then it differs dealer to dealer anyway), and CTP and registration costs will also differ.

What did you originally post that you wanted for the trade in?

Edit: Found you said car was valued at $10200 - $13000 with more kms and you wanted changeover under $18K. Seems you hit that mark. Rather than screwing for a few extra dollars, given the price looks reasonable, not brilliant, to me, you migth consider additional options if there was something relatively inexpensive you thought you might like?

Thought I should get $14,000 minimum for trade in. 'Drive' said that as a trade in, to expect between $11000 and $13000 for my model (2006 Beetle tdi).
That was based on one that has done 20,000 k's a year.

Mine has done 10,000 k's a year, plus it has a sunroof and alloys. One owner and serviced by VW.
Do you think what I've been offered is a good deal or do you think I could do better? Haven't signed on the dotted line yet.

    MDI or more?
I'd actually rather screw him down a few more dollars if it were possible. Just want to know whether it's possible or am I asking too much?

Did you compare yourself to the spreadsheet? You've done considerably better than some of the early adopters.

    What did Mazda offer?

$36125.70 RRP, $31807 Quote, Discount = $4318.7 (11.95%). Best discount for a non corp customer is 13.8%. Making an offer of $31500 gives you a discount of 12.8% (attainable probably if spreadhseet history is good), $31000 makes it 14.2% (you'd have received the biggest discount of everyone - unlikely?).

I'll assume a full tank of PULP and premium plates are standard dealer delivery items.

The quote I was given was with Corp discount....
So I should ask for slightly better?
Perhaps $31,500, Full tank, mats and premium plates?

I used McGrath in Sutherland, pretty good service/knowledge etc. Didn't realise the previous quote included Dynaudio, as for leather and ACC not sure why you'd want it in the 118 but its your car, and the leather is nice but I'm a fan of the cloth in the GTI.

I'm sure you'll love the 118 though everyone does
