I don't find the rear of the Golf variant too offensive... bland perhaps. But a wagon being a what it is, IMO it's not easy to get a good looking compact wagon. Would be easier to design on a larger car though.

So any examples of what you think works? Octavia perhaps?

Current Passat looks great, especially compared to the Golf.

This was a good compact wagon, but I'm biased ;)

I would be interested to see a Golf Wagon parked next to a Skoda Octavia Wagon. My guess is that there is not much difference.

I think the variant it is a good looking car that will appeal to many but especially young families. Add the bigger wheels & it certainly gives it a better & more appealing look.

If you haven't yet seen the video's check them out...

    Here are the two together........

The both have the short nose of a smaller hatchback, but with the big overhang on the boot. It is different to the mk6 as my dad has one of those and I compared the door handles in the photo, they are identical to the Octavia and different to the mk6. The Octavia uses the Golf chassis, so I am gussing there would be a lot more compatible parts between the two now.

I still prefer the Octavia vRS though.....biased

From the photos it looks like the Octavia has significantly larger side windows than the Golf, so possibly has better side/rear vision (the Octy wagon has much better side/rear vision than the Octy hatch, particularly the rear 3/4). I might be slightly biased too, being the very happy owner of a vRS wagon

Back on topic, does anyone know where the Golf wagon is made? Google tell me the Nth American versions are from Puebla, Mexico (also where the New Beetles are made). Not able to find anything on the Australian (or European) versions. Call me a snob, but where a car gets made does make a difference to me.
