    Mk VI breakdowns??

Have ordered MkVI GTI coming in feb or march. First timer to VW.
I have been hearing off hand that the golf mk VI and some early import golf GTIs have been breaking down often.
I've had various german cars, bmw 325i and Merc C180K over past few years and they had the occasional irritating problems such as the BMW fuel "feeder tube" coming off (sorry can't remember the technical term), and the Merc's front airbags stopped working (malfunction light came on) for absolutely no reason.
I hate to think the good Golf is in the same sort of category. Anyone heard of true stories of problematic Mk VI (in particular the just arrived and delivered GTIs)?

Don't you think these forums would be full of threads about people being towed if it were a problem?

The Golf like other German/Euro cars is incredibly complex so they could be towed for a minor fault but I don't see any widespread complaints in here and rest assured if a screw is loose or a rattle is heard people will jump in here and whine about it. If you want to see a lot of cars being towed sit behind a Chrysler dealer.
