    MFD now says MFI

    Hi All,

Am I going mad, the MFD use to actually say the letters MFD.
Just the other day, I noticed that it now says MFI

I can't see any dead pixels etc BUT what is causing this?
Is it a fault as the VW service department knows nothing of this?

Has anyone experienced the problem (if it is one)

    thanks

Mine did this, but it was after the service recall was performed. It also stopped my gear and time display from disappearing randomly!

Yeah - MFD (MultiFunction Display) and MFI (Multifunction Indicator) re interchangable terms.
Just like ACC (Adaptive Chassis Control) and DCC (Dynamic Chassis Control).

There is no need to be concerned.

    Thing is though,

Car was in for Squeaks and came out with MFD showing.

Soon after, it showed MFI without any changes or services made ??

I am aware that terms are interchangeable, what concerns me is why the sudden change when nothing was done to the car either by me or VW.

How do you know that the dealer hasn't taken the time to upgrade the cars ECU or firmware? Did the dealer specifically tell you that they haven't done anything?

Because the service manager did not know what the problem was

AND is not aware of the issue on other cars.

AND it happened 2 weeks after service where the MFD suddenly changed to MFI on screen.

AND my friggin car is still creaky which kills me

AND the wipers still have a mind of it's own when the supposedly faulty sensor unit was replaced.

Just took 118tsi in for the service recall ECU update - yes it was not done on the car even though it was only picked up last weekend from the dealer!

Display read MFD prior to the update, and still reads MFD afterwards.

No noticeable difference in the car afterwards as yet, though it's really going to be almost impossible to tell having only done 400 odd KM and being limited by traffic and running the engine in.

    Hi,
I have worked out what the problem is for the MFI label.

This is related to the language selected in your preference. Mine was inadvertlenly changed to English UK possibly by my wife who drives the car 95% of the time.

Changing it back to English (US) resolves the problem.

What problem? And don't we speak English UK here?
