    Make a legitimate complaint about the unit's operation.

    There's about 20 different things you could mention that are enough to warrant a firmware upgrade.

    Exactly. Good thinking 99
    You know you are getting old when you cancel your order for a 3.6 CC and buy an Icelandic Gray TDI CC instead.

    The same reason it's isn't officially available at service centres in other countries which is the users of the car are too stupid to adapt to change. Imagine the whining if there were new features, changes and the music on the head unit had been changed? Manuals would have to be changed in the folder in the glovebox and users would complain about not being able to do something they did before plus it takes an hour.

    Plus you have incompatibilities with the later versions with some cars systems (like the gateway) and older versions of maps may not work requiring the customer to upgrade.
    Agree with most of what you say but conversely, my 09/09 Build CC came with a manual printed in April 2009 indicating that the RNS510 would read 32Gb SDHC cards, which it won't. Can't have it both ways but I always admire your VW evangelism ( and lots of useful information as well)

    Back to the original MFD Mysteries topic.

    I just rechecked and it is a simple to re create this erroneous MFD Message on a MK6 DSG, if you are curious.
    Just turn IGN to ON depress brake pedal, which will allow you to put DSG selector into R, D or S with ENG off, then turn the IGN to start. You will get;
    "Information - Depress Clutch Pedal" on MFD
    Good one VW - How'd you let that one slip. You would think the Germans would have the proper message there.
    "Dont try start the car in gear stupid" - or equivalent
