I have very similar issues with mine MDI cable which was dealer fitted.

Whilst im driving along changing songs it will randomly disconnect and come up saying "AUX INPUT" then moments later it's starts playing again. Sometimes after that happens I cannot change songs and therefore have to disconnect the iPod and reconnect it again. Occasionally it will stop playing and say "MEDIA INPUT CORRUPT" (or something along those lines) and again I need to disconnect the iPod and reconnect it. Also if I skip past a song I wanted to hear I can't go back to it as it will play a completely different song. Have mentioned it to the dealer and they had a look at it but said nothing was wrong.. Am going to mention it again I think...

Tried another iPod? Mine did this for a while and turned out the dock connector was stuffed... Great reason for me to purchase another one
