MDI niggles

While the music from the radio plays as soon as the unit turns on from a cold boot, the rest of the computer is still loading in the background. It may be 20 seconds or more before things like Maps, Navigation, or external media become available. This is pretty normal behaviour. Usually mine will say 'xxxx is starting up' instead of just showing a blank screen though (has happened to me once though, when I turned the unit off before driving into an underground carpark, then got confused when I started the return trip).

Perhaps copy your favourite songs to the HDD or use an SD card, since they're somewhat more reliable audio sources.

I have seen that loading screen that just wouldn't go away once and rebooted the thing and it hasn't happened again.

(I don't recall if it was before or after I upgraded the firmware).

Q: How do you reset the unit if it crashes or otherwise requires resetting?

A: Press these three buttons at the same time: “eject” + “<” + “>” and that should reboot the unit.

some problems again in incompatibility of IOS 5.1.1 and mdi. artist on iPhone doesn't correspond with the one displayed.

I'm on 5.1.1 and works fine for our two iPhone 4s's

works ok on iphone 4 but more buggy than 5.1

The PDF on that page suggests that older MDIs (pre-2012) can't be upgraded beyond software version 240? The last update I tried failed with a "Software Update Not Possible" error. Haven't given this one a go yet though.

This didn't work on my MY11 R so I guess it's not for the older ones.
