Has anyone seen that before ?

    Thanks!
I had that once; cable wasn't seated 100% into the MDI base. Turned everything off and removed and reconnected the cables and all was fine.

+1 you have to make sure it 'clicks' in on both sides of the base of the cable.

Surprised people are still having difficulties after the firmware upgrade. Mine is great besides the pauses between tracks. Have tested the sd card but doesn't sound as good (as it's limited to MP3).

Well, iPhone (v4 OS) + MDI is major fail. After using the the iPhone over MDI for a few days and thinking "wow the sound system in this car sure sucks" I tried listening to a normal CD and found the sound to be quite good! After some tinkering I found the balance between the left/right channels was not correct when using the iPhone. Some songs nothing at all plays on the left channel. Some songs bass is missing from the left channel. Some songs treble is missing from the right channel, etc etc. It is very strange, and make the whole thing sounds terrible.

There are no problems play normal CDs or listening to the radio! So MDI is rubbish when used with an iPhone.

Definitely hasn't been my experience but I'm still using a 3G and haven't upgraded to V4..

iPhone OS4 is causing heaps of problems all over the place...way to go Apple. I'm sure Mav is loving it!!! =)

Almost every app that I own on my phone is broken. Nice planning on the release. Apple must have used their test team of monkeys on this one.

Did you plug it in properly and test it with other ipods/usb devices?

Is the MDI a retro-fit or did it come with the car?

Also helps to have good quality rips if you want cd-like sound.

It's possible that iOS4 isn't supported yet and no doubt VW will have to update the MDI firmware again (playing havok with bluetooth as well). Not sure if anyone else has iOS4 working with the MDI but probably isn't worth updating your phone - is it possible to roll it back? I'm not going to bother upgrading my 3G as it's already jailbroken with those extra features ages ago.

let's not forget that iOS4 is a huge change...we're talking an almost complete overhaul of the entire system...it's bound to have issues with integrating apps and devices....plus, it's Apple, so even more so

Is your MDI factory? or dealer fitted. What your describing to me sounds like the wiring is incorrectly fitted and causes those exact same problems with the speakers your describing MDI with you iphone should be 100% clear

I just got rid of my iPhone cos i had enough of Apple and bought a Nesus 1 Google phone and loving it.
One downside i can see is the car dock part of it. Apple's is better...

When i connect the N1 to the car through the MDI i need to put it in USB mode for the music but i get no integration through the car speakers if i get a text, email, call etc. The iPhone did. Even if i dont put in USB mode and dont play music i don't get any intregration. It all comes through the blueant.

Anyone else have a Android phone or N1 and can get sound through the car speakers?
