can someone tell me who has MDI and iphone 3g how is the compatibility with these 2? does the iphone screen get totally locked when u connect the cable to mdi?

Works fine except for the minor bugs listed on this thread.

No, the VW head units don't support Album art. I can live without it but the Alpine HU's show it if you're into that kind of thing.

not on the vw units...i mean on the iphone itself because i know some units when u plug iphone u just see "vw" sign on the iphone so does this happen also with this MDI...when you plug in your iphone 3 g do you still see and can u still fully control iphone itself? launch gps make phone calls text so on....? otherwise i d just use aux port if u cant

yep, the iphone displays the art work and you can fully use the phone while connected via MDI.

Doesn't the MDI - USB cable come standard if you ticked the MDI option?

Nope, it's an extra $90-ish. You need to purchase it from the dealer.

eeerr Im sure it should be somewhere around for a lot less... dont see 90ish as an accepteble price for $3 cable ))) found them on eBay for 20-30 US only but still looking
