An interesting read for Webber fans (and my guess is that most people here are!) + it's not often an F1 driver gets involved in reviewing regular passenger cars...

The Renaultsport 250 was his pick in the end as it delivered the most bang for the buck. Though I do wonder if there is a just a tiny bit of bias creeping in there
The GTI still got some praise, though!

I was quite intersted in learning about Mark's comments, but disappointed with the lack of any substance. I'll keep focussed on his F1 performance - I have high expectations for 2010, afer his progress with Red Bull in 2009. I'm keen to see how he lines up against Schumacher, when they are both in competitive cars!
I'll look for a more serious review of the MK VI. It is a step forward from the MK V, but certainly not a giant leap!

Love that turbo & DSG !
Yeah, don't think it was intended to be an in-depth review.... seemed as though he had a go in each car for around 10-15mins during his lunch break whilst the reporter jotted down a few choice quotes
OT - As much as I hope he will do well this year, the field is going to be very very competitive.... realistically it is going to be tough for RBR to stay ahead since McLaren and Ferrari would have caught up in development for 2010 and they should be fighting for victories regularly again. Of course, Schumacher in the improved ex-BrawnGP car will most likely be very competitive as well!
F1 does throw up the odd surprise, so hopefully that will happen again this season. Maybe in a couple of years time we'll see a Volkswagen Group brand in F1!

hey Rick,
I have owned them myself and they gave me far more trouble and expense than 10 years owning Ford's 'The regular Golf GTi is what they are testing here and that has 200bhp or 230bhp for the 'Edition 30' model. The 'R' model is nearly £4000 more expensive than the Focus RS and that is before you add any extras to the Golf 'R' It's just my opinion that they are not good value at those inflated prices, and also not such a 'premium product' that is worth that extra money.

Pity the weather wasn't any good. I think Mark might have had more comments on the driving characteristics of the cars. The review was more of a visual review of each vehicle - not a true drive. It was good none the less. Mark Webber is a top bloke.
At Aud$3,000 cheaper than the Golf, you'd be crazy not to get the RS250 in the UK.
Surprised that the Golf's engine felt as fast as the RS250, as most reviews say the RS250 and Focus RS are neck and neck performance wise.

I don't think Mark Webber cares about practicality but rather fun driving. The Golf is just better for everyday driving.
