You're OK Mate... you've got the awesome R-Dash lights installed in your Beast! You don't need to touch those underpowered and grossly expensive OEM lights... it would only be a downgrade!

OK... I have discovered the first problem with my R-Dash lights!!!

When they are on... You lose ALL AM reception! I assume it has something to do with the Resistor Box?!

Is anyone else having this problem... could those of you with them installed please check and let me know if you also lose AM reception. I'd like to fault find and see if it is due to the way I have installed them, if I have a faulty unit or they just all do it!

I assume the OEM units don't have this problem... I might have to try these at some point! I really like my talkback radio... can't do without AM reception at night!

Checked with the lights and radio on but engine off (as it's late and I didn't want to wake everyone :p) AM reception is fine for me! Will try again in the morning with the motor running but don't think this will make a difference. btw I have the R-Dash leds.

Hmmm... maybe it isn't the R-Dash LED's?! I just assumed it was, because when I turn the vehicle lights off, the signal returns (or the static disappears, which ever one is right?). The only difference is the number plate lights.

I wonder if it is how I've installed them... I cable tied the Resistor Box back on the cables... perhaps the "coil" is inducing an EMF which is creating the interference?! How did you install them?

Also... do you have the RNS510 (and consequently, the "Shark Fin" antenna)? I am wondering if it also might have something to do with my antenna placement in relationship to the LED lights?!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA.... wtf? I just tried in my car and I have the SAME problem. AM Radio = ok. Turn on the lights, AM radio goes into a black hole. Turn off lights = AM radio comes back.

I guess for me it's not a huge problem because I rarely listen to the radio (AM or FM). But wow... that spun me out. And I know my AM radio was working fine before with the OEM lights in.

    A few clarifications here.

Even if you have the RNS-510 Sat Nav, the antenna on the roof is just for GPS. It's not for radio reception.

I can confirm that, even with the sharkfin, the R-Dash LED Lights DO STOP AM reception.

After reading the above comments, whilst I was washing my car this morning I unplugged the connectors and turned on the parker lights and AM reception is fine.

So if you care about AM reception, I suggest you just pay up for the $180 OEM VW LED lights and find a solution for the error code if you get it.
