Cheers mate. Will try the defuser way as I can't even see it to grab, I suppose I could have a go at guessing where it is but if I can't I will take the defuser off. No tape was used but I might rethink and use some this time. Thanks for your help. The last human garage on YouTube has a video on taking it off so might view that for a guide. Cheers mate.

Done! Thanks very easy and I've used some Velcro strips to try and hold the resister in place.

    LED Number Plate Lights

Ive now had these JOM numberplate lights fitted for a month or so now, and happy to say that they work well and look good. Quality is definitely higher than the Racing Dash ones, and you don't need the resistor box because its built into the housing on the JOM ones.

Light output is perhaps 20% less than the Racing Dash ones, which im happy with as the Racing Dash ones were a little 'full-on' for my liking.

The 3x larger LED's on the JOM ones will hopefully be a good compromise between OEM and Racing Dash. Just trying to justify the $109 cost. VW (Volkswagen) LED License Plate Upgrade | SlickOnline - AutoSlick & HomeSlick

Is anyone on here running the more expensive JOM ones? Feedback?

Never understood why anyone would want the lighting for the rear plate to be brighter or whiter than OEM incandescent. Very, very low light would be the best.

I dunno,I think the rear bottom of the car looks nice enough lit up, and with the number plate scanning technology that at least NSW has doesn't need any light for the equipment to operate, so don't think having them near invisible helps avoid getting pinged.

    Mk6 LED number plate lights

The JOM ones are the best in my opinion. Much nicer light output than the Racing Dash style ones which are waaay too bright and look a bit ridiculous.

Lightbulb Need some assistance Re: MK6 R

Hey team, need a favor, a mate of mine has a MK 6 R and we've attempted to change his number plate lights (yellow-ish) to LED ones, but it keeps throwing an error light, have any of you's got a link to where i can get the actual whole system (LED plate kit). I've seen some on MK6R's while driving behind them, but never get a chance to ask them at the lights where they get them from. I've asked the service boys, and they don't know where to get some, I've tried E bay but there's so many.. any help would be appreciated.

    thanks boys and girls..

You can get them from BMR Auto: VW Golf Mk 6 LED Licence Plate lights - BMR Autowerkes

I got mine from Bling Work Auto but only because I got the full interior LED kit at the same time: VW POLO SCIROCCO GOLF R Ultra Bright White CREE LED Number Plate Rego Light | Blingwork Automotive Lighting
